Jonathan Helms has been following the Lord for as long as he can remember. His life since birth has been marked and reserved for serving God’s people in ministry. The night he was born, his father gave him to God in prayer. The evening of his conversion, around age 8, was also his commitment to God “to go” and serve others for Jesus. His ministry service goes back to age 16 when he began to spend his summers working on the kitchen crew for middle school student camps. His passion and commitment to love God’s children continues today, some 30 years after those very early mornings and hot late nights in the kitchen.
The most common expression of service in Jonathan’s life is teaching. He caught the bug back in those hot summers when he was allowed to co-lead small groups at the middle school camps. Whether he is teaching in front of a crowd, leading a small group, discipling folks or counseling, Jonathan is always trying to help people see the Truth – to discover God.
After he graduated from seminary, the Lord led Jonathan into a significant wilderness time, and it was there that the Lord gave him his life’s mission: “to reintroduce christians to Christ”. In his current role as director of pastoral care and counseling at Bridgeway Church, Jonathan is still teaching, mentoring and counseling with the goal of helping others see God in a whole new way and to develop a deep friendship with Him.
Joe currently serves as the Student Life Leader at the Ascent Leadership School. Although he received Jesus as his Savior when he was young, Joe struggled to accept his own acceptance for most of his life. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 2013 Joe began a successful sales career with the Miami Dolphins in South Florida. Severe battles with anxiety brought him to a place of surrender and a longing to intimately know Jesus. After attending a year-long ministry program in California, God brought Joe to Greenville, SC where he began as an intern with Bridgeway Church.
Joe was born in Georgia but calls Minnesota, "home". He enjoys playing guitar, laughing until it hurts, and building deep friendship with God and others.
